Square Enix held its conference for E3 2019, bringing there games to show off. These are the upcoming future releases that they’re excited for and of course they want you to be excited for as well.
And to open the show they went with the ever fan favorite Final Fantasy 7 remake to get fans hyped. They’re adding a lot of content to keep old fans happy and allowing new fans to get into this older game faster. It will be releasing March 3rd, 2020.
Up next was a couple of quick videos starting with Life is Strange 2 as they show a montage of reviews and YouTubers. And then there is a quick clip of The Crystal Chronicles remake which is coming along nicely for a winter 2019 release. Followed by a short clip of Octopath Travellers PC release and then a quick trailer for Last Remnant Remastered.
For those fans of building in Dragon Quest Builders, the second game allows you to build your own little world that is much bigger than the first game. The world is not a good place with creatures standing in your way of a peaceful life. You’ll need to build to survive and to be able to protect yourself from invaders. Dragon Quest Builders 2 will be coming soon on July 12th, 2019.
Next up is Dragon Quest XI S the biggest edition of the game coming to the Switch this fall.
Square Enix is publishing a small indie top down racing game called Circuit Superstars which is coming to PC and major consoles. It wants to harken back to the old racing games where things were more arcadey and the racing was loose.
The fight for 1944 is still raging with this other indie game that Square is publishing. It’s Battalion 1944 which is already out on Steam for those that wish to take a look at it.
DLC is coming to Kingdom Hearts 3 but it is still a ways away from coming out with a winter 2019 release. It’s called Kingdom Hearts 3: Re:Mind and it’s adding to the story of the game giving more depth to what’s happened.
For fans of Final Fantasy XIV the DLC content Shadowbringers is being worked on and will be out on July 2nd, 2019.
In a change of pace Dying Light 2 showed a lot of free running and butt kicking as it was raced through.
In a surprise move two classic games are coming to the west that have never officially made it over before. Romancing the SaGa 3 and Romancing SaGa Scarlet Grace Ambitions are the two games in question. SaGa 3 is heading to all the major consoles, mobile devices, as well as PC, and Vita. Scarlet Grace on the other hand is going to be on PC, Switch, mobile devices, and PS4.
A new story has come from the Final Fantasy universe that is Brave Exvius it will be called Final Fantasy Brave Exvius: War of the Visions. War is ready to rage across the continent as five nations vie to keep their power and position in the world.
The studio People Can Fly revealed their newest game, a shooter set in a dark world that reeks of post apocalyptic feelings. It’s called Outriders and it can be played solo or with friends in a co-op experience for up to three players..
The RPG Oninaki is coming and is about a group that is supposed to protect the people. This group is called the Watchers and it centers on one particular member of the group. It will be releasing on August 22nd, 2019 for PC, PS4, and Switch.
If you’re not tired of remakes or remasters then potentially Final Fantasy 8 might be able to keep you happy with more RPG goodness. It’s coming to the major consoles and PC sometime in what remains of 2019.
Crystal Dynamics is of course working on Marvel Avengers: A-Day. The story begins on a bad day in San Francisco when there ship is destroyed leading to mass destruction around the city. They’re disbanded as a result, but five years later they’re still willing to heed the call to save the day when baddies show up. This is an all new story that is not related to the movie universe. It is aiming for a May 15th, 2020 release date on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
That’s Square Enix’s rather noisy conference for E3. I for one remain underwhelmed by what was shown, especially by the Avengers footage. Once again nothing stopped and made me go wow. It felt like they were eager to get through all of their stuff without actually talking about some of their games. I don’t know I just found this conference frustrating especially all of the shouting in the audience while trying to hear what’s being said in trailer by the people talking. The one bright spot for me was the Outriders trailer. It didn’t look all that unique, but something about it caught my attention. If you thought differently about the conference, I’d love to hear it.
