And now we forge for the gaming news, releases, and entertainment news for the week of October 28, to November 3, 2108. Please note that I don’t cover all that happens as it would take forever to track it all down, but I cover the stuff I thought was interesting.
Game Releases –

Once there however, he finds that Cthulu is being revived and may be headed for the island. Gaming News –
Sony has announced the full lineup of games for the North American Playstation Classic mini console. Please note that the mini console has specific games for each region around the world. Head over to the Sony Playstation blog for the full story. Said games are:
- Battle Arena Toshen
- Cool Boarders 2
- Destruction Derby
- Final Fantasy VII
- Grand Theft Auto
- Intelligent Qube
- Jumping Flash!
- Metal Gear Solid
- Mr. Driller
- Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey
- Resident Evil Director’s Cut
- Revelations: Persona
- Ridge Racer Type 4
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
- Syphon Filter
- Tekken 3
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
- Twisted Metal
- Wild Arms
For me this is a kind of disappointing list of games. I mean there are some of the expected titles, Metal Gear and Final Fantasy and I understand why Gran Turismo isn’t there. But for the money the asking price of 99.99 USD, it isn’t worth it to me.
The classic game MediEvil an adventure platformer that has gotten a complete remaster for the Playstation 4. It will be coming sometime in 2019.
This looks like a fun remaster of a game. The trailer does make it look like the main character controls a bit like a tank, which can be fun but perhaps is not as tight as it should be. Not that tank controls are horrible they can definitely work. I’m just saying that this is how the game looks from the trailer.
Smash Brother Ultimate had its final Direct event before its release. There are two new characters, plus five DLC characters and stages coming. Most of the talk was centered around what to expect from the game’s single player and how multiplayer will work.
It looks like they’re packing as much as possible into the game. My only question is in regards to the new character Petey Piranha who will be a free DLC character but for a limited time? How long will this character be free? Do you have to pay for the character after a certain period of time? It’s something that Nintendo needs to clear up.
EA Games is hard at work trying their best to create the next generation of gaming. That is that they’re working on cloud based gaming. Code-named Project Atlas they’re pushing to create a low latency game streams so that more people can enjoy games without the worry of having a high end PC or console. So far, not much has been shown by EA and it has no release date for the project. This story is comes via Cnet.com.
This sounds great, I know Microsoft and Google also have similar projects so competition is always good. Now the only problem is internet connections. In the U.S. internet connections are all over the place and range from utter crap to decent enough. With the FCC acting like the internet isn’t an important part of people everyday lives I don’t see that changing anytime soon. It has potential in other markets that have great internet but in the U.S. it is almost pointless to try out.
Also in the swing of EA Games they have said that developer Respawn Games is hard at work not only on the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but another game as well. Adding to that both games are expected to release by the end of 2019. This news is from an Investor meeting that was reported by MP1ST.com.
I’m a bit surprised by this news as it seems like such an anticlimactic announcement. It is nice to know there is another game coming from the studio but it would be even nicer to have a solid idea of what it will be.
If you have a Battle.net account and don’t own Destiny 2 but want to now is your chance to get it for free. Activision has made the game available toPC users for free until November 16, 2018. None of the DLC’s come with this offer so keep that in mind.
A good deal for those that want to try out the game to see what it is all about. Also a pretty good time for this to happen right as busy gaming season kicks off and everyone is looking for attention.
Blizzard during their annual Blizzcon event have unveiled two remasters that they’ve been working on. World of Warcraft: Classic and if you have a current subscription to WOW you’ll get the game when it releases in the summer of 2019. The other remaster is Warcraft III: Reforged which updates and brings back the beloved real time strategy game plus the expansion packs. On the other hand Blizzard also announced Diablo: Immortal which fans are calling a re-skin of another mobile game.
Well I can say that Warcraft 3 definitely deserved a remaster after all it is one of those classic games that helped create so many others. And the classic World of Warcraft is a nice addition though one that I don’t care about since I’ve never been into MMO’s. The Diablo situation sounds like a lot of unhappy fans thinking that they might get something like a remaster, but get a mobile game instead. Such things tend to make people frustrated, with a good example of this being the new C&C mobile game that made a lot of fans sad, but now the developers are working on a totally new PC game.
Entertainment News –
The Apu rumors are for now kaput. Executive producer for The Simpsons Al Jean, has said that Adi Shankar who does not work on the show and started the talks that Apu will soon be gone is simply wrong. Beyond that however, nothing more has been said.
Okay, so I’m not sure why Mr. Shankar felt qualified to step out and say what he did which in turn caused a lot of drama. I know he said that several people working on the show said that Apu would be going away. But, that doesn’t confirm that the character is absolutely going away. And other then getting Mr. Shankar’s name out there this achieved nothing of note or value.
Speaking of Adi Shankar he’s working on a video game franchise to bring it to T.V. The rampant rumors are that it will be A Legend of Zelda series. We won’t know until November 16, 2018 when the official announcement is supposed to be made. This story is courtesy of TheWrap.com.
Given how Nintendo tends to treat leaks they don’t like them at all. it wouldn’t bode well for an agreement. And for those curious there is a good video on YouTube by DidYouKnowGaming about the relationship between Nintendo and High Voltage Software deterioration because of leaks. Mr. Shankar’s recent public leaking of how he thinks Apu is going away is not a good look. That said, this creation might not have anything to do with Nintendo. It might be for another big Japanese game company. And I’m not sure why anyone has grasped on that it is about The Legend of Zelda.
There was a first look at a make up test for Netflix’s 2019 The Witcher series. It shows Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivera. The show will be more centered around the books than anything to do with the games.
Yikes. That is not good test footage. I’m not sure what inspired Netflix and the creators of the show to release this but take it away and fast. I don’t see Gearlt in this clip just Henry Cavill in an abominable wig. They managed to take an excitement I had for the series and whisk it away. The more I see the clip the more I see Cavill and not Geralt which is going to make tough to watch the series if he fails to disappear into the role.
Terry Practhett’s novel series based around the City Watch in the infamous Ankh-Morpork is taking shape into a TV show over on BBC America. And is being described as a punk rock thriller by Narrativia who own the rights to all of Terry’s writings. They have a blog post with the show’s announcement.
I was fairly excited until I got to the part where it calls it a punk rock thriller. The sound of buzzwords being thrown together until it sounds about right filled my ears and turned me off. I love Pratchett’s work and I’m holding onto my excitement for this show, but I worry that it won’t have that tongue and cheek humor that Prachett was so famous for and carried so well through his books.
That’s this week in all its gaming and entertainment glory of interesting-ness. Thank you for stopping by I appreciate it.
