A new Greenlight queue full of puzzling games.

It’s look at the video games time, also known as looking through the games posted on Steam Greenlight. There’s some quick info to get through then I’ll get to the games.

This post is for games listed between October 19 to 21, 2015. It is also only meant to be a quick look at the games that I think are worth mentioning. And since this post is made entirely from my opinion some games worth mentioning might not make the list. I try not to let that happen.

A small reminder that at any point a game listed on Steam Greenlight can be removed. Since I don’t go back much to my old posts they will be awfully out of date.

Rules:

  • Games must have a trailer.
  • Games reposted to Greenlight that have been previously mentioned in one of my posts will not be included.
  • Games should have an English translation.
  • Finally, games should look ready for Greenlight and should not look like a joke submission.

 

Now the moment you breezed through to get here. The Games:

 

Title: Karaski: What Goes Up…

Genre: Puzzle, Adventure

Art Style: 3D First Person Airship World

Synopsis: An open world airship where you must find out who is trying to sabatouge the ship and why.

Opinion: I like the visual style of the game and the concept sounds good.

Title: Dead End Road

Genre: Racing, Horror, Arcade

Art Style: 2D Pixel First Person Car Driving

Synopsis: An atmospheric driving game, where you get to drive around, but only after you’ve opened Pandora’s Box. Now you have to deal with something following you, chasing you down the road.

Opinion: It’s an intriguing idea, perhaps needs a bit of work and a fully fleshed out story to play with. But the interest is there if the price is right.

Title: Tons of Guns

Genre: Shooter, Puzzle, Arcade

Art Style: 2.5D Top Down

Synopsis: You are a robot with guns in this twin stick shooter and around every corner are enemies, turrets, and general baddies that need to be dealt with.

Opinion: It looks over the top and frantic which is what it should be.

Title: Neo World

Genre: Strategy, Simulation

Art Style: 2D Screens

Synopsis: Combing hacking with tactical teams that must accomplish a mission and you get this game. This game is set around stealth so you must do your job quietly and with as few traces left behind as possible. This game is crowd funding on Indiegogo.

Opinion: It looks very minimalist, which can both work for the game or against it.

Title: Captain Kaon

Genre: Shooter, Arcade

Art Style: 2D World

Synopsis: An homage to the classic Amiga console shooter, where you need to use your thrusters to stay in the air, while shooting enemies all around you.

Opinion: Very colorful world, but it doesn’t look like it is for me.

Title: Split

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 3D Isometric Low Poly World

Synopsis: This puzzle game challenges you to split a box up in order to get to the door, however you must also get all of those split off’s to the exit as well. No boxes shall be left behind.

Opinion: I like the soft visual palette of the game.

Title: Super Arcade Football

Genre: Sports, Arcade

Art Style: 2D Top Down Football Arena

Synopsis: Soccer/football game with a fast paced arcade like feel while keeping it soccer/football like.

Opinion: It looks like a calm frantic sports arcade game. Not over the top frantic of some sports arcade games, but controlled.

Title: Energy Cycle

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 2D Screens

Synopsis: A simple puzzle game, where you must get all of the colors on a level to match up by pressing them.

Opinion: It isn’t for me.

Title: Idle Civilization

Genre: Strategy, Simulation, RPG

Art Style: 2D World

Synopsis: A civilization building game where you oversee the creation of a civilization. This game started out as a game where you idle, but has evolved to be more of a building game with idle elements.

Opinion: I’m a bit of a sucker for building games with 2D visuals, because they are so different. This one looks like its got pretty good potential.

Title: Blitz Breaker

Genre: Platformer, Arcade, Puzzle

Art Style: 2D Levels

Synopsis: A simple platforming game with a minor twist. You can’t run. Though you can jump and air dash as you try and escape the robot factory you were built in.

Opinion: It looks cute and challenging.

Title: Skedaddle

Genre: Platformer, Puzzle

Art Style: 2.5D Side Scroller

Synopsis: Skedaddle is about a broken circus which will soon be closing and the animals retired. You play as several of the animals working your way through levels to give the creatures one last grand send off.

Opinion: It has a curiously creepy vibe to it.

Title: Jack Nimble: Attack of the Boredom Bugs

Genre: Strategy, Puzzle

Art Style: 2D World

Synopsis: Boredom bugs have brought the feared barrel of boredom to the woods. Now its up to you a Jack Rabbit who is a lumber jack along with his friend an elephant to keep the barrel away from the bugs. Use your other animal friends to help out.

Opinion: I can very easily see this being a good game for kids.

Title: Dolly

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 2D Hand Drawn Side Scroller

Synopsis: Explore a strange world, with bright and dark visuals. Based on the GameMaker game of the same name. It fully expands and brings new elements to the game.

Opinion: I like the visuals, though I’d have liked to hear about the story on the Greenlight page.

Title: Rock Farmer

Genre: Strategy

Art Style: 2D Pixel Side Scroller

Synopsis: On a strange planet you are in a mining machine that can dig into the dirt and mine. You also must build up your operations above ground to process the minerals and rocks you find before sending them off.

Opinion: While it looks a bit simple, it also looks like it could be a fun time sink.

Title: Spectral: The Silicon Domain

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 3D Isometric World

Synopsis: This game challenges you to stealthily sneaky through levels so that you can obtain secret information about companies and potentially corrupt ones as well.

Opinion: The visuals are what set this game apart from other stealth games.

Title: Bertram Fiddle Episode 2

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 2D Hand Drawn World

Synopsis: Bertram adventure continues in episode, this time though he’s being framed for murder! Worse the riddle that is Geoff’s identity goes much deeper than expected and he has no idea where it will lead him. This game is crowd funding on Kickstarter.

Opinion: A dastardly looking and seemingly funny adventure.

Title: Dusty Raging Fist

Genre: Beat’em Up

Art Style: 2D Side Scroller

Synopsis: Three heroes are tasked with fighting mythical guardians around the world to gain their powers. They are doing this to be able to fight the dark ancient evil that lies in the catacombs. This game is crowd funding on Kickstarter.

Opinion: Visually looks great, the story is a bit cliche, but as long as its fun it should be fine.

Title: Doko Roko

Genre: RPG, Platformer

Art Style: 2D Pixel World

Synopsis: A rogue like adventure set in a tower filled with demons in the wastes of the world. The game emphasis fast combat in this procedurally generated world where everything is dangerous. This game is crowd funding on Kickstarter.

Opinion: Rogue like adventures seem to love the heavy pixel look lately. Hopefully this has enough to separate itself from the others.

Title: Cluck Yegger in Escape From The Planet of The Poultroid

Genre: Horror, Arcade, Strategy

Art Style: 3D Spaceship

Synopsis: Cluck Yeager has been shot down by his arch nemesis onto planet Poultroid. Now during the day he has to fix up his ship, while during the night he’s confined to the cockpit of the vessel. There he must keep an eye out for genetically modified poultry out looking for a midnight snack.

Opinion: It looks good and like it has a sense of humor about itself.

Title: Space Impossible

Genre: Strategy

Art Style: 2D Pixel Open Space World

Synopsis: This game lets you fight it out over tiles in single player and multiplayer. Everything is made of tiles that can be taken or destroyed. Own all the tiles and you’ll own space.

Opinion: An interesting concept that will leave you probably fighting over everything.

Title: The Nullpoint

Genre: Strategy, Horror

Art Style: 3D Top Down Alien Spaceship

Synopsis: In the year 2109 an alien spaceship was discovered at the edge of the Solar system, but the exploration of it ended in disaster. It’s up to you to lead the remaining survivors through the massive maze of corridors and off the ship. This game is crowd funding on Kickstarter.

Opinion: I like it, I think its got good potential.

Title: The Order of the Thorne – The King’s Challenge

Genre: Puzzle, Music

Art Style: 2D Pixel World

Synopsis: An anthology of point and click adventure games that take place in the fantasy realm Uir. You play as Finn the bard, who has taken on the King’s Challenge to become the greatest hero of the land.

Opinion: It looks decent.

Title: Riposte

Genre: Fighting, Arcade, Platformer

Art Style: 2D Arena

Synopsis: A multiplayer fighting game that uses weapons to help you win the fight against your friends. This game is crowd funding on Kickstarter.

Opinion: It reminds me of Super Smash Brothers, but less hectic and arcady.

Title: Space Moth DX

Genre: Shooter, Arcade

Art Style: 2D Horizontal Scroller

Synopsis: A bullet hell shooter that involves bugs, bullets, and spaceships. What more could you need?

Opinion: A colorful game that might need a seizure warning for those that could be set off easily.

Title: Black Sands Origins

Genre: Visual Novel

Art Style: 2D Hand Drawn

Synopsis: You play as Rah the ancient god of Egypt, you along with the other classical gods have been cast off from your training to hone your powers. Now you must figure out how to do it all or die trying. This game is crowd funding on Kickstarter.

Opinion: It isn’t for me.
