Mauled by a new voting queue of Greenlight games.

And I’m back. There can only be one reason, there a new queue of Greenlight games that want votes. There are a couple of things to say before we go through the games that caught my attention. Firstly this entire list is of my opinion, you should check out all of the games of Greenlight because there may be something that interests you that didn’t do it for me.  This list is also a quick summation and is not meant to full represent the games themselves.

This list is for games that were posted between September 1 to 3, 2015 on Greenlight.

There are also a few rules that I like to go by when judging said games:

  • Games must have a trailer.
  • The game must look ready for Greenlight and not be a joke submission.
  • There must be an English translation.
  • Games that have been reposted to Greenlight that I have talked about in previous blog posts will not be included.

I would also like to mention that try as I may to include lots of games, this list is my opinion and sometimes I may not include games because of that. I work hard to not do that, but it will happen.

Now the Games:

Title: Kabounce

Genre: Sports, Arcade

Art Style: 3D Third Person Neon Arena

Synopsis: A high octane pinball game in which two teams of balls face off against one another. You bounce around the level hitting bouncers and lighting them up with your color. All the while watching out for a chance to take out the other teams balls. This game will be free to play.

Opinion: It reminds me a bit of Rocket League but a hell of a lot faster and neon. I like the game though perhaps they might want to tone down the neon a touch.

Title: Mysterious Castle

Genre: Puzzle, Adventure

Art Style: 2D World

Synopsis: You are a thief who has come across a castle and decides to see what hidden treasure can be found. The deeper you go the more there is to discover.

Trailer:

(Greenlight Page)

Title: Star Command Galaxies

Genre: Strategy, Simulation

Art Style: 2D Isometric

Synopsis: This is the sequel to the hit mobile game which came out in 2012. You start off with a humble little ship exploring space and travelling around. Of course its only a matter of time before you want a bigger ship and more to do, of course hostile aliens are a constant roaming menace. This game was successfully Kickstarted back in 2012.

Opinion: It looks pretty good, a little bit gittery controls in the trailer but nothing a bit of smoothing can’t fix.

Trailer:

(Greenlight Page)

Title: Gray Dawn

Genre: Puzzle, Horror

Art Style: 3D First Person World

Synopsis: You are a young Swedish priest who has been accused of murdering one of your alter boys who vanished a few days ago. No one believes that you are innocent, and with a demonic possession happens and then a divine apparition, things only look to be getting stranger.

(Greenlight Page)

Title: Talewind

Genre: Platformer

Art Style: 2D Side Scroller

Synopsis: You play as an adventurous young boy who loves to explore and has gone up to the mountain near his town to see what it has to offer. This isn’t any ordinary place though as the winds blow things around there, which is the perfect tool for an exploring young boy.

Trailer:

(Greenlight Page)

Title: Bot!

Genre: Platformer

Art Style: 3D World

Synopsis: You play as Tommy the robot who works in homes but has been kidnapped and taken to a military facility patrolled by military robots. Now you must sneak your way out to get back home.

Opinion: It looks like a unique stealth game as there is no way to fight back against the big bad military bots.

Trailer:

(Greenlight Page)

Title: Shepherds of the Abyss

Genre: Tower Defense

Art Style: 3D Top Down

Synopsis: Build your wall of a maze and then figure out where to place your defensive towers as the baddies try to get past.

Opinion: It isn’t a game for me.

Genre: Strategy, RPG

Art Style: 2D Top Down

Synopsis: You are an escaped slave who has made it to Gaul (France) and has found some good land to settle on. However a greedy census taker finds you and starts to make demands. You live to survive and hopefully meet the census takers demands until you can find a way to get rid of him.

Trailer:

(Greenlight Page)

Title: State of Extinction

Genre: Survival, RPG

Art Style: 3D Third Person World

Synopsis: You play a young Neanderthal tribesman trying to find his way and figure things out. Life won’t be easy as creatures will attack and you won’t have much in the way of weapons.

Trailer:

(Greenlight Page)

Title: Cards

Genre: Card Game, Simulation

Art Style: 3D Card Game Table and Cards

Trailer:

(Greenlight Page)

Title: Eye in the Sky

Genre: Platformer

Art Style: 2D Side Scroller

Synopsis: You are a monster who wants peace and quiet, but the city in the sky won’t stop making noise. So you go up there to destroy everything and get some peace and quiet.

Opinion: I think the visuals need a bit more work. I do like that it reminds me of the arcade game Rampage World Tour.

Trailer:

(Greenlight Page)

Title: Cube Chaos

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 2D Screen

Synopsis: Squares fall down vertically and have a certain color to them. Your job is make sure that the color square that goes with background reaches the bottom while getting rid of the rest that don’t match. It sounds simple, but its spread out over three lanes.

Opinion: Simple but complex, I almost wish the game was faster moving at the beginning of the action but realized as I was going along that I would probably be clicking on the wrong boxes if it was.

Trailer:

(Greenlight Page)

Title: Dexterity Ball 3D

Genre: Puzzle, Platformer

Art Style: 3D Maze World

Synopsis: You control a ball that must collect gems around the map. A task that sounds easy unless you’re running against a timer or speed running.

Title: Xeno Lab

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 3D Top Down

Synopsis: You must get a ball through a level, but to do it you must click on certain elements of the level to get the ball to where it needs to go.

Opinion: It’s an interesting take and more involved than some puzzle games to an extent. Not sure there is enough here though.

Trailer:

(Greenlight Page)

Title: Alone in Space

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 3D First Person World

Synopsis: You play as Alex a man living on the planet Miranda, 42 million light years away from earth, and was in the process of teraforming. Something went wrong and now you’re all alone.

Opinion: The world the trailer displays feels awfully empty as if no one has ever lived there.

Trailer:

(Greenlight Page)

Title: Illan: Shades of Memories

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 3D Grey World

Synopsis: Illan awakes confused in a world of achromatic colors as to what’s happened. He sets off to bring back color to his life and the world.

Opinion: Usually I like games that play with color scale and put things in a grey. This game however it has a certain drabness to the grey that doesn’t do it for me.

Trailer:

(Greenlight Page)

Title: A House of Many Doors

Genre: RPG, Horror

Art Style: 2D Top Down

Synopsis: You are a poet, spy, and a journalist who has come across a house worth exploring. This is no ordinary place, it steals from other dimensions and slots these rooms into the house. You explore this place on a crazy clanking train that runs on mechanical legs while gathering a crew of misfits to go deeper in to see what comes next. This game is crowd funding on Kickstarter and has successfully reached its goal.

Opinion: Love the concept, the visuals and pretty much everything about it. I hope it delivers.

Genre: Shooter, Arcade

Art Style: 2D Pixel Top Down

Title: Galaxy Admirals

Genre: Strategy

Art Style: 2D Top Down

Synopsis: A turn based strategy game with hexagonal movement in which you are tasked with conquering the galaxy one star system at a time.

Opinion: The visuals are pretty nice and the fact that the playing field shifts directions after every move could prove to be interesting.
