The interesting games looking for Greenlight votes. July 12 to 14 2015.

Another Steam Greenlight queue of games are in need of attention, and we’re here to give them just that. As is the way with these posts, I have a few rules I go over before I get to the games. I set these because otherwise, these posts would be just the same madhouse that Steam Greenlight finds itself.

  • Games must have a trailer.
  • I will not include a game that doesn’t look ready for Greenlight.
  • Games that aren’t in English will not be included. Sorry, I can’t write about games I don’t understand.
  • If a game looks like a joke submission, it won’t be included.
  • Finally, games that have been reposted to Greenlight and I’ve talked about them previously. They will also not be included.

Also this listing is for July 12 to 14, 2015.

Now to the good stuff. Games:

Title: Nayima

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 3D Third Person World

Synopsis: Tara the main character must bring light back to a world that has been stuck in eternal night.

Opinion: The game looks well made. The story while not the most original is still pretty cool.

Title: Nyctophilia

Genre: Horror

Art Style: 2D Side Scrolling Pixel

Synopsis: A horror game not about monsters, or weird maniacs of the night. But rather the things that go on inside your head. This game will be free to play.

Opinion: Creepy, weird, and interesting. I love the guitar music in the trailer.

Title: Fat Baby Galaxy

Genre: Shooter, Arcade, Platformer

Art Style: 2D Side Scroller

Synopsis: A hyper game, with fast platforming and shooting. It’s all about doing things quickly.

Opinion: If the trailer is any indication, speed is definitely a factor as is ridiculousness.

Title: Wish – Tale of the Sixteenth Night of Lunar Month

Genre: Visual Novel

Art Style: 2D Hand Drawn

Synopsis: You play as Tenka, a man who wishes he had the supernatural powers of those around him. Finding himself ordinary, he hopes that he can be of use to those protecting the shrine with him. This game is crowd funding on Kickstarter.

Opinion: Looks like a pretty standard visual novel with lots of drama and intrigue going on.

Title: Huebots

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 2D Top Down

Synopsis: Using robots and colors you must get your robots to their correct color exit.

Opinion: Pretty standard puzzle game, matching colored robots and getting them to move around.

Title: Delta Light

Genre: FPS, Shooter

Art Style: 3D Block FPS

Synopsis: Quake style inspired shooter. Blast your way through enemies.

Opinion: The enemies in the trailer don’t look the greatest, they do just stand there and attack. It still has a promising look to it.

Title: Dumuzid

Genre: Puzzle, RPG

Art Style: 2D Top Down

Synopsis: You vs Them. You are a shape in a turn based procedurally generated world, you grow bigger by attaching to an enemy. The bigger you are the more powerful you become, but if you’re smaller you are able to maneuver easier.

Opinion: It looks a bit like a weird tetris game with RPG elements thrown in. It’s a good weird though.

Title: Vivid Wolf

Genre: Puzzle, Platformer

Art Style: 2D Side Scroller

Synopsis: You play as Vivid a young girl with the power to switch between colors in order to get around the world.

Opinion: Quirky looking platformer, hopefully it isn’t too reliant on the color portion of game because that might get a bit stale.

Title: Tower Unite

Genre: Miscellaneous

Art Style: 3D World

Synopsis: From the creators of a mod for GMOD called, GMMOD Tower. It’s a virtual space to play games with friends and hang out. This game is crowd funding on Indiegogo.

Opinion: It is not my type of game, but I can see why some might like a space to hang out with friends in a virtual realm.

Title: Planetbase

Genre: Strategy, Simulation

Art Style: 3D Isometric Planets

Synopsis: Land on a strange and weird planet. Then build a base to survive what the world has to throw at you. It’s a city builder on a strange planet.

Opinion: It looks good. The worry with city building games is striking that balance between a good hard challenge and well getting trampled on by the game.

Title: Toby: The Secret Mine

Genre: Puzzle, Platformer

Art Style: 2D Side Scroller, with a Shadow Character

Synopsis: Toby is stuck in a strange world with his friends kidnapped. He must find them before he himself is taken away.

Opinion: While the idea of a shadow character is a bit overused. I’m okay with games using it as long as they have a strong look and the gameplay to drive the game.

Title: King Lucas

Genre: Platformer

Art Style: 2.5D Side Scroller

Synopsis: King Lucas had an affair with a witch, and as a result the queen now lives with the princesses in another part of the castle. This castle is also a twisting blinding maze, no doubt caused by witch. The king sends out intrepid heroes to find his queen and princesses.

Opinion: It looks like a maze of a puzzle to get through.

Title: New York Mysteries: High Voltage

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 2D Hand Drawn

Synopsis: A crime wave is sweeping through 1950’s New York City. People are being murdered and left as only a pile of ash. Whitney Stone decides to find out what is going on.

Opinion: It looks like its more than a find the hidden objects in the picture kind of game. If they can tap into the vein of the old school point and click Laura Bow games, it will be good.

Title: Battlestation: Harbinger

Genre: Strategy, Simulation

Art Style: 2D Top Down

Synopsis: A rogue like real time strategy game, where you fly the best spaceships, and do your best to survive through the precariousness of space.

Opinion: It is inspired by FTL, so lets get that out of the way. It has its own unique look and as long as it has depth and is fun, well that’s all that matters.

Title: Platformer-31

Genre: Shooter

Art Style: 2D Top Down

Synopsis: A two player game where you spend the entirety of the game shooting at an opponent at the train station platform across from you. It is free to play.

Opinion: Eh, I don’t know if there is enough content here for me.

Title: Wolfsong

Genre: RPG

Art Style: 2D Top Down

Synopsis: The fiends an evil race are becoming stronger, but the Thaa’hune a decaying race is assembling a group of people to hunt them.

Opinion: It looks pretty cool.

Title: The Last Time

Genre: Adventure

Art Style: 2D Pixel Art

Synopsis: Jack Glover is a former police officer who suffered from a traumatic event during one of his shifts. Now retired life is somewhat simple until a phone call pulls him back to the real world. This game is crowd funding on Kickstarter.

Opinion: The story sounds interesting and challenging.

Title: Elroy and the Aliens

Genre: Adventure, Puzzle

Art Style: 2D Hand Drawn

Synopsis: Aliens are out to destroy the world because it blocked the sun rays from an alien enjoying his tanning time. Now Elroy a sleepy scientist gets to save the day.

Opinion: It looks funny and offbeat.

Title: Uniball

Synopsis: Team multiplayer sports, collect the ball, get it to your teammates or take a shot at scoring yourself. You’ll also have to worry about defending against the opposing team trying to do the same to you. This game will be free to play.

Opinion: A tough game that’s been around for a while, though people seem to love and keep playing it.

Title: Knight Online

Genre: MMO, RPG

Art Style: 3D Open World

Synopsis: Two tribes have been fighting it out since forever. Choose your faction and help them to finally win. This game will be free to play.

Opinion: It doesn’t look like a game that I’d get into.

Title: Tower Lords

Genre: Tower Defense

Art Style: 3D Isometric

Synopsis: Build your towers and take on the swarms of enemies intent on storming your lands. This game will be free to play.

Opinion: I didn’t like music in the trailer which is a bit of a turn off, but otherwise an okay game.

Title: The Wizards Lair

Genre: RPG

Art Style: 2D Top Down Pixel

Synopsis: Conquer randomly generated dungeons where things only get tougher the deeper you go.

Opinion: A very old school looking RPG. Could be fun or frustrating depending on how you view these types of games.

Title: Beneath Us

Genre: Survival

Art Style: 2D Top Down

Synopsis: A survival game where most of the focus is on the combat being quick and rewarding.

Opinion: It looks good, but the Greenlight page is a bit sparse on details for my liking.

Title: The Green Plant

Genre: Simulation

Art Style: 3D Screen

Synopsis: Your job is to make sure the military power plant doesn’t fail. Can you do it?

Opinion: Another game in which I’m not sure there’s enough content to entice me.

Title: Space Cropper X

Genre: Puzzle

Art Style: 2D Top Down Screens

Synopsis: You must save the earths women because aliens have kidnapped them. In order to do so, you must get the aliens inside of a box without them touching the line you’re drawing to box them in.

Opinion: Pretty simple puzzle game, but puzzle games always appear a bit simple.

Title: Bandit

Genre: Puzzle, Platformer

Art Style: 2D Screen

Synopsis: You’re in the wild west and are a cowboy. Clear the puzzle of baddies while collecting stars.

Opinion: It reminds me of Pac-Man.

Title: Big Action Mega Fight

Genre: Brawler, Arcade

Art Style: 2D Side Scroller

Synopsis: Megatropolis has been over run by gangs of evil baddies and you can’t just sit around waiting for them to go away. You play as Brick a bad dude who knows how to throw a punch or many punches.

Opinion: Good art style, and manages to keep things simple. Punch and then punch some more.

Title: Evil Hazard

Genre: Platformer

Art Style: 2D Pixel Side Scroller

Synopsis: The world is full of dangerous creatures that don’t have an ounce of sympathy for humanity. You must fight to protect humans.

Opinion: The trailer is interesting, and the game concept seems good.

Title: Tracks and Turrets

Genre: Shooter

Art Style: 3D Top Down Open World

Synopsis: You’re in a tank and you get to fight other tanks that want you dead.

Opinion: A simple interesting game. Shoot tanks before they destroy you.

  1. Hey it is uniball I love that game! If it gets on steam and it gets a decent player population that game could be a TON of fun.
