Nintendo’s Year of Luigi

In Nintendo’s latest Direct video they have proudly declared that this will be the year of Luigi. Because everyone knows that Mario’s twin brother doesn’t get enough love.

First up is the 3DS title: Luigi’s Haunted Mansion: Dark Moon, which will have a multiplayer mode. Anyone who loved the original GameCube title will probably love this game as well. Luigi’s Mansion looks to have lost none of its charm. It will be hitting on March 24th 2013 in the U.S.

Next comes Luigi’s dreams in a new RPG for the 3DS titled Mario and Luigi: Dream Team. It’s all about using Luigi and his dreams to solve puzzles and fight baddies. If you’re a fan of any of the previous RPG Mario games your in for another light-hearted adventure. It’s shooting for a summer 2013 release.

Camelot Software is working on a new Mario Golf game for the 3DS which is going for a summer 2013 release date as well. They’re working hard on making the controls and courses precise. Fans of the original golf games are probably already sold on the title.

If you own New Super Mario Brothers U for the Wii U you’re in for a treat as Luigi will be coming with 80 levels of DLC. Of course it will be starring no other then Luigi, since it is the year of him. It will be titled New Super Luigi U, and Mario will not appear in this. While no release date has been given, because the DLC is so big, Nintendo is saying that it will come out this year.

The new Animal Crossing: New Leaf finally has a North American release date of June 9th 2013. And in a change of pace you’re going to be appointed mayor in this game. Take that Tom Nook. It looks like it will be an interesting release for the Nintendo 3DS.

Lego City Undercover for the Wii U will be coming out March 18th 2013. The 3DS version will be completely different as you start of as rookie Chase McCain. It will be coming out on April 23rd 2013.

The eShop will be getting a couple of interesting games in the coming months. HarmoKnight being one of them. It will be release on March 28th 2013.

Next up is Kersploosh! and yes that is the actual title of the game. It’s all about dodging things as you play a stone falling down a well. It’s one of those titles best left to video. It will be out on March 7th 2013.

Mario and Donkey Kong: Mini’s on the Move will be hitting the 3DS eShop soon. Nintendo can be such teases about release dates.

You can watch the entire Nintendo Direct if you have 38 minutes to waste away. It’s a fun watch if you have time for the year of Luigi. There are also a couple of titles I didn’t cover, so you may want to watch it towards the end.
