Sony who have been rumored to be looking into acquiring a cloud based gaming service, closed a deal with Gaikai to take over. This move will allow Sony to build up it’s own cloud service for gaming using the new resources.
Gaikai was one of emerging companies in cloud based gaming facing off against rival company Onlive. But have been looking for a buyer recently.
Cloud based gaming is thought to be the next big thing as it allows people to play high end graphic games on a not so great computer. Or the potential to have say next generation PlayStation 4 games be playable on a PS3 through cloud based gaming.
Cloud games are loaded onto a server which can only be accessed once you connect to the internet through certain programs. Once on that program you’re allows to rent, purchase or demo the selection of games that they have.
Sony has said that they will be bringing cloud gaming to a variety of devices.
