Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata confirmed during an E3 investor briefing that their new console the Wii U will allow for Free to play games and micro transactions.
They want to have that variety of purchase options for the console and have as many e-commerce options available to the public at the launch.
“And because of that, we have prepared a Digital Rights Management system. We have designed the system from a technical standpoint to allow developers to freely take advantage of things like free-to-play and microtransactions.”
Nintendo also reiterated that none of their games will be going free to play in the near future. Nor will you see any of their games on any smart phones.
